Picked up 1913 Luger Erfurt marked on the strap "MG JR 138. 33. I am assuming Machine Gun Company of Jager Regt 138? If that is correct, anyone know anything about these guys?
I would think that the marking indicates "machine gun company, 138th Infantry Regiment, weapon 33". Jaeger units were formed as Battalions. The "J" is commonly used as an upper case i in German unit markings.
