    Walther P38

I have a Walther P38 (post war with civilian grips) and like to know when it's made and for what purpose (army, police ...).
It has the following inscription on the side: "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do" and " P38 Cal. 9mm". There is also the nbr "59" with a drawing of a shooting star and the post war German eagle with the letter "N" underneath. The registration nbr is "331013".
    Thanks in advance

I have copied this to the firearms forum where it should be.
    Thanks

Steiner, this sounds like the Federal German proof mark for shooting smokeless- (nitro-) powder "N".
