    Sniper scope cans.

Thought I would start a thread on sniper scope cans. Lets see some others.

These cans are now so heavily reproduced, that you have to study them like German helmets and understand that they exhibit the same age/wear patterns that helmets do.

Some zf39/42 cans. A single can, long side rail and high turret. Single claw cans differ only slightly from long side rail cans. Does anyone know in what ways they differ?

A few zf41 cans. The one on the far right was actually in ordance tan and then war time repainted ordnance green, for some reason. Perhaps we should start a thread on zf40, zf41, zf41/1 scopes. They are interesting.

I never hold a scope can in my hands, because i never saw one in
Austria, maybe Mr. Zahn bought them all
Therefore i would appreciate a thread about the scope cans

Some more scope cans .The last one might be one of the most difficult ones to find ,as 99% of these are fakes. Hope you like my cans

Beware of the copies ,especially on Ebay.Almost every zf39 scope can that is sold there is fake.

Yes sir, very nice cans ...

And now comes THE question: How can a faked scope can be identified as
                    such ?

Here goes mine. I guess it is a single claw, as the turret scope with sun shield is too long. So I guess the single claw cans had less space inside as the single claw scopes didn't use sun shades.
The can has a damaged hinge as well as broken catch spring but is 1000% original.

Hey nice to see a real dug up sniper. Is the mount(or whats left of it ) matching the gun? Your can looks more like the typical turret mount scope case.

HI. The mount perfectly fits the bases in terms of size. But the rifle is ground dug while the scope (or rather tube) is an attic find. At this moment I've got a second turret sniper in better shape, but the base system seems no to match perfectly the mounts on the scope... You can't alway get what you want.... Well, in this this case they would make several types of turret cans, as this one just would fit my scope.... Strange
