    Help with FN 1922

    Hello,

I recently inherited this FN 1922 and have been looking for information. I've found some here and there online but it varied from place to place. I know there is an excellent book on these pistols. But thought I'd ask here as well. Trying to narrow it down date wise for possible manufacture. This was brought back by my father. I have the capture paper to go with this.

The pistol is marked in all the proper places with WaA 140 stamps, the two mags are marked one with WaA 140 and the other with WaA 103. The holster has no markings anywhere that I can find.

The internals and bore are spotless. The outside has wear from its use during the war. My father never fired it. It sat in the safe always.

Trying to figure out the variation or year this serial number 64337 would put it. Everything on pistol matches.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Jerry

I am not sure how to get pics attached here. It's not letting me.

According to Anthony Vanderlinden's book "FN Browning Pistols", WaA140 proofs were intoduced in December, 1941 around serial number 57000. This WaA remained in use until the end of occupation in August, 1944.

Guns without suffix were made until May 1943 when production had reached the serial range of 220000. By then it was zeroed again and an "a" sufix was added.

Hope it helps you a little.

The information above is quite accurate. Your FN1922 should still have the black plastic grips.

Can't comment on the holster without pics.

Your pistol was made likely within the same month (Dec 41) as the change from the WaA103 to WaA140, and the WaA103 magazine could well have left the factory with pistol.

It's a rather scarce mag in the wild, and a lot of collectors seek them.

Thank you for the information. That helps alot. I wish I could post pics. It says I'm not allowed too. The holster isn't the luftwaffe style.

I'll make sure to keep the 103 mag with it all. A fellow collector friend has been bugging me to trade it for a 140 marked mag.

Pistol does retain it's original black grips in great condition.

The WaA 103 mags. are much harder to find than the 104 mags and of course command more money.
