    MP40 Parts Kit

    Hello Gentlemen:

I used to have an MP40 which I sold earlier this year. I purchased an MP40 parts kit back in the early 1990s to serve as spare parts, but I never ended up using any of it. I purchased it from I.M.A. (International Military Antiques). The parts are mismatched numbers, although most of the lower is matched the same (except for the folding stock that is mismatched). The barrel assembly is matching. Also, there is very, very little give on the retracted folding stock (i.e., it doesn't sag).

I would like to sell it, but have absolutely no idea what the price would be for something like this. In terms of condition, all of the pieces in the part set have very little or no bluing left. I think the following pictures should give a better idea of condition.

I know I can sell them piecemeal on Ebay, but frankly, EBay and their fees are a pain in the butt. But if I have no other option, I will sell them there.

Anyway, your help in getting an approximate idea of value would be really appreciated!! By the way, none of the parts exhibits any rust whatsoever. The brownish stains in some of the parts stains are grease / cosmoline(?) from IMA.

Barrel assembly is all matching. There are some words/names scratched into the bakelite barrel rest that are Russian/Slavic sounding. There is still nice threading left inside the barrel.

I would ask $3000 for that kit

2500 TO 3000 was going to be my advice as well. IMA would buy it back...probably for 1000.

Thank you Petroleum 1 and Eric! Very helpful.

Eric, I checked out the SVM site and the MP40 parts they offered for sale for $1550 is listed as sold now and looking at it carefully, that part kit did not include the firing pin spring/assembly and the barrel was welded shut. So, in terms of working parts, it really was just the lower assembly and the bolt for $1550.

Thanks again for your help guys!

I wondered if it was an apples to apples comparison, figured something had to be missing at 1500 or so. I think that you've priced it right and someone will step up with a 2k offer and take it.
                        Glad to have helped,
                        Eric

I've had some MP 40 parts laying around, selling them here and ebay. The barrel seems to be what some 'part kits' is missing. Ebay pulled the barrel, reasoning for them, it was an assault weapon part. Your barrel is complete and worth some bucks. Good luck!

I tried selling the parts kit on estand and, for some reason, it got deleted. I will post again, since Dave Souter was unsure why it got deleted. Thank you very much to everybody that helped me in this thread!
