    floorplate takedown tool

Hello Im new to this forum, this is my first post so I hope I have it in the right forum. My question is about the floorplate takedown tool in the R.G.34 cleaning kits. Before the Germans redisgned it and added the pin it was called a cartridge case- bullet wiper.I understand how it is used with the pin for removing the floorplate but how is the rest of it used. One end has some rough ridges on it, but I just dont understand the whole cartridge case -bullet wiper thing. Thanks for any information. Johnny

    Hülsenkopfwischer

    Hi Johnny

The takedown tool is calles in german : "Hülsenkopfwischer" which I cannot translate in English (someone please?? ) but it is used to clean the rifle as shown on the following pics
the 1st one is from a german 98k manual from 1936 and the rest are from my own 98k

I too had always assumed it was a chamber cleaning tool so thank you for confirming it with the picture from the manual. It's easy to clean the barrel with the pull-through but getting into the chamber is always tricky, the British used a rather nasty little wooden stick (official issue!!) to achieve the same purpose with the Enfield.

      Happy shooting, Peter

Thats the same way I translate it, but sometimes in German litteral translations don't work.
I also always suspected it was a chamber cleaning tool. The end is too wide to fit in the cartridge case slot on the striker end for recocking.
