Hello all. Very nice MP44. Just wanted to ask why you think the buttstock is not original German made? Different shape in some way? I have wanted an MP44 for 20 years and finally got one. It is Russian reworked. Triangle stamp with 1. Had a horrible Russian (?) buttstock on it, but have now replaced it with new old stock laminated stock. Looks much better with it. Registered on a collectors licence.

The V stands for rejected material. This is written in the book from
Wolfgang Peter Michel with the title Volksgewehre on page 106.

If your MP 44 from Steyr is a very late one in 1945, they used all
possible parts under the pressure to produce enough weapons.
