Walther flareguns

Here are a couple minty Walthers that I just picked up.

An early model with the Walther banner, Kriegsmarine acceptance marked, and numbered N584 on handle.

The other is AC41 marked which is Walthers code and 1941 date.


They will make a nice addition to the collection.

Congratulations! Very nice flare guns, especially the Kriegsmarine marked Walther banner, that´s a very rare version. Normally in this serial number range the Walther banners were made of steel, but the Kriegsmarine ordered them in aluminum. I´ve got a „brother“ of this nice piece, serial number 25806L and inventory number N550. Mine isn’t in such good shape and shows some wear and the barrel isn’t matching but the barrel is also made of aluminum and is in a similar serial number range, so I am pretty sure this confusion was done by the Kriegsmarine.

Great examples Steve, thank you for sharing them. Quick question...often times, I see WW2 german flare guns sold in the USA with "CANADA" (all caps) stamped on the frames. Do you know if this was an import mark coming into Canada, or an export mark as they left Canada??

Sorry never heard of such a thing. Stamping WW2 German flareguns CANADA would sure knock their value down. I am ashamed!!!!

I have in 48 years of collecting flareguns seen my share of Heer model flare pistols with White ink stamp " CANADA ". I believe unlike Great Briton which stamped proofmarks into the metal on captured guns, Canada simply stamped the gun with a rubber ink stamp. During WWII Canada was not as Anal as GB when it concerned firearms...… How time changes ! Value would not drop, as the ink stamp can easily be removed.

Well that is not so bad if it is just white ink stamp. Never saw one myself though so good to know. Then again I have never gone looking for flare guns, these fell in my lap and for a nice price so I couldn't let them pass.

I have seen ink stamp and engraving, infilled in white. I recently saw a british flare gun for sale on gunbroker, with this "CANADA" engraving... I have also seen flare guns so marked, for sale at Marstar.ca website, though not recently.
