    Gun show poll

I didn't really want to discuss politics on this site, However there are very important political topics going on right now in D.C. that I think everyone should know about.

Rather than getting everyones' opinion on these topics, I will simply post a poll for a few questions that I really would like to see everyones' opinions on. Please answer these questions honestly. Thanks!

    Matt

The First question is on Public gun shows. Right now, there are several certain politicians in Washington that are trying to get public guns shows banned in the United States!
I would like to know everyones opinion on this. Even if you are not a gun collector, please vote! This is very important!

What is your feelings about public gun shows here in the USA?

    Hello Matt

I realise you do not wish to discuss the political aspects of this matter, I would just like to add that I am Australian and not American, I feel our situations are very similar, I strongly recommend you look at the mind blowing statistics coming out of Australia and the UK. Our gun shows here are quite small in comparison to what I would imagine is put on in America, sadly we suffer from the same bad publicity the independent and informative media networks portray. Many people from the public warm to the historical significance of firearms – from any nation and its associated history once they are given the chance to “look and learn.” Once they realise we like to sit down and study and debate history and are not gun totting rednecks, they are for the most part quite accepting and understanding where we come from.

    Take care

Well, im sorry to hear that there are some politicians in D.C. who have gone crazy I have visited a number of gunshow's(alltough in Finland) and i see no reason to ban them. Well, i collect guns, so maybe im taking sides, but i really can't see why someone would want to ban them Offcourse i don't know the local sircumstances, but i still think that the politicians behind the idea are NUTS.

              P.S. Good poll, Matt

                  Gun shows----OUR RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am totally against any further gun legislation of any kind. If these idiots in Washington get their way - this will be one of the first steps to taking much more away from us. WAKE UP AMERICA!
I am a firearms collector and have been since I was very young. I won't give mine up easily. Charlton Heston said it right, "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!"

                    Well said!

I'm just afraid that Washington liberals are going to use this "Beltway Sniper" story to further push thier anti-gun laws!
You know that is what there are going to do! It just makes me sick!moremad

Criminals will always carry and have access to guns. To dis-arm the citizen is to set him up as a target for crime.

                          Well said Dez,
                          I could not agree more.
The anti-gun lobby over here (England) is almost fanaticle, and i am sorry to say it, but fueled by the hype from the media things will only get worse for us collectors.
And to the two people (so far) who think gun shows make things easier for criminals, GET REAL !!!!!!!
Do you honestly think someone who wants a firearm for a criminal act is going to go to a public place in broard daylight to buy their gun?
This is a non argument anyway. Even if all firearms were banned totaly and the only people allowed to carry them were the military and police the criminal element would still obtain them, and there would still be gun-crime.
The sooner the powers-that-be realise this, and do something about it, the better.
Sorry, got a bit carried away there......................

                          Regards to all, Steve.

This is a very complicated and delicate matter. First I don't really know what happens at a gunshow? Second you start discussing guns and legislation in general.

Now let me start by saying that I like guns, own guns and always argue against the gun hating crowd (in my part of the world). However it seems to me that you gun people in the US overlook some important matters in your perfectly understandable fear of loosing your guns.

I can tell you one thing for sure. Ban guns completely and gun crime rate will go down (not taking into account that you already got so many guns in circulation to last a lifetime). Guns are "almost" banned in my country and we don't have the kind of gun crimes you have in the US (of course other things have an impact on gun crime also). Accessability is a key matter. You may disagree, but many gun crimes can/could be avoided if it was more difficult for criminals to get their hans on a gun. As long as a "non criminal" can buy 100 guns and then unnoticed sell them on to the 15 year old kids around the corner you will have lots and lots of gun crimes/tradegies. Selective gun ownership is only fair - the problem is how to administer it.

Restricting certain people/citizens from owning/buying guns would most certainly help. Registering all guns (like in my country) would most certainly also help. However this is something you will all fight against - I know that. I also understand why. You can't trust politicians. First the take your pinky finger, then the whole arm. If only one could trust them... Unfortunately the US has so many guns in circulation that a complete ban wouldn't help much.

Finally; yes I know criminals will always find some way to get guns. They do that here also, but in much smaller numbers than in many other countries. I guess USA can learn from Europe. I also think Europe can learn from the USA.
Before everybody flame me. Remember I'm not a gun hater, I just point out some problems for which I don't have a wonder solution.

The only thing that seems screwy to me is a Federal Firearm Licensed (FFL) gun dealer has to fill out the paperwork, do the background check etc. A Joe Blow off the street who has 10 or 20 guns he wants to sell can pay for his table right next to the FFL holder and not have to do the same paperwork procedure.
