Originality of the Mauser k98 stock

    Hello Guys,
Help determine if the rifle stock is original, which was used or could be used in ww2, or it is a postwar forgery.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.
    Dmitriy.

Looks like a Russian capture stock as the inner hand guard and outer serial numbers don't match. Most of the German manufacturers did not serialize the outer portion of the stock. That font and size is typical of a Russian capture marking as well.

Post war forgery? There are way too many original stocks in the market. It does look original WWII.

I believe all pre-war and early war K98k stocks were serial numbered externally.....The numbering on this one was as stated, done after the war.....Bodes

All Russian capture K98 have original-Genuine German stocks the only difference is that they were stamped with serial numbers and tinted with a reddish color..100 genuine WW II item.
