    Yep, it might be so. I had thought about an MG81, but not that kind, but had forgotten about the MG131.

      I did some more Research on the net now......the MG131 Comes in quite a few variations, modified over time. I tend to believe that this is a stock for one of them, and there were variations in stock design. The size (for a bigger gun), the short lengh and the clamping mechanism would favour this thought in my opinion....

      I did not find any better pics on the net. But I am quite sure it will be Luftwaffe, some converted MG that was initially used in a fighter plane.

        hello,

        There are indeed MG131 which are mounted on "ringstands" for the defense of airbases.

        Seeing the configuration I immediately thought of the MG 131 but I needed the dimensions to be sure. I confirm this at noon, because I will go see a friend who has a MG131

          Hi, that would be great! Thanks!

          Many of the items left behind where this one Comes from are from an Luftwaffe airfield. So this would match as well.

            hello,

            After the measurement I think it fits pretty well.

            There is a small difference in size but it must come from rust.
            Sorry for the quality of the photos, the dimensions are 18mm, Ø50mm and 38 mm.

              @gurtsack

              I am very sure that is it now. I did the measurements with a Standard roller and not a precision tool, so there will be small differences. Form, depth and size do fit perfectly. Really great work, thank you very much for helping to solve this question.

              And thanks to all others that contributed as well. Great Job!!!!
