    Walther PPK grip

    Hi Gentlemen

I'm trying to get some information regarding 'enveloping' grips for the automatic pistol Walther PPK.

How to detect / be sure that Walther PPK grips are original ? (manufacturer code anywhere ?) What was the ending availability ?

    Thanks very much in advance

    Regards

PS: When I say 'original', I mean, pre- and war-time (not post-war)
And when I'm speaking about 'enveloping' grips, I'm speaking about this kind of grips :

Bruno, the PPK grip designed and manufactured by/for the Walther company was made of Trolit, a injection molded plastic. The colors used by Walther were variations of artificial walnet, grey and black. A tell-tale feature of original grips was a thin piece of reinforcing sheet metal found at the bottom rear of the grip and usually visible looking at the inside of the grip. This plastic had a tendency to harden over the years and orginal grips are often seen with cracks at the top of the back spine, side and at the screw entry holes.

From my experience, reproduction grips have not duplicated the light flexibility of that plastic nor have they successfully installed the metal reinforcement piece. Or have they?

Thanks very much for your comment.
The detail you mentioned (sheet metal found at the bottom rear of the grip) help me a lot.
I was hoping to have no doubt but I am comforted.
Thanks again a lot. I'll try to make some useful picture to illustrate your sayings
        Best regards
