    Mauser-werke 7.65 pistol find

I don't pick up a lot of firearms but happened into this one. Clean, appears matching, waffenamt eagle 655 with 1940 dated holster. The clips are unmarked except for the Mauser banner on the bottom, are they original wartime? Anyone have the serial number years ranges? THANKS!

It is a Mauser Model 1934 (some call it 1914/1934).
I don't have serial numbers breakdown per year, but I think this link may be useful:

    Greetings,
    Douglas.

Thanks all! Can anyone tell me if the serial number pins it tons year? Would love it to match the 1940 holster date.

Yep, that serial number corresponds to mid 1940 production.

                  Nice scarce Mauser pistol.
The holster is a post war Danish one though with fake markings. Other combinations of WaA/dates are seen too on these.

Well, that's no fun! Can you link a reference?

                      Nice Mauser 1934. Great find

However, Kris is correct about the holster. It's a post war Danish holster for the Walther PP, with bogus markings added.

                      Here are some links to other examples of this bogus holster. They are all over ebay, as well as some dealer sites;

                      https://www.simpsonltd.com/products/c37224

                      https://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer...s/H028678.html

Also FYI, there are other bogus holsters out there with this same maker marking. It is very convincing, but usually is easy to spot, since often times it is double struck like this example:

I can only echo Matt's comments.
Also, the combination of a Weimar style eagle with a 1940 date is unlogical.

THANKS! I took a closer look at the stamped marking and realized it was pretty lightly impressed into the leather. A bit of water on it, a cotton cloth, and pressure..... oh-la! No more marking So I now have an extra holster !

IIRC serials are between approx. 580000 and 630000 but mixed with commercial, Kriegsmarine and Police marked pistols.

Still estimates 8000 pieces and Pender 13000.
