    M1 Garand

    Hi

Two pictures of my garand M1 before and after.
It would say that I made a crime, but now I like it like that and that's the main !

    Regards

Looks good, did you sandblast and parkerize? How does the rest look?

Nicely done-it's your gun and what makes your enjoyment of it succeed is all that matters.

        Hi

        Thanks
yes sandblasting, I had to take two times for parkerize. The first baths displeased me strongly, it was too dark The photos intensify the defects, but they see less in naturalness. A big shot in the wood on the left side, but too important to make him come back

Curiously the bolt was not too much touched, and the rust is largely removed with steel wool and WD40.
So she is in her original finish. But the elevating knob was too stung, I had to change it

the barrel before, it was heavily rusted !!...

            Hi
I don't think it was a "crime". You did well. Although I'm not a enthusiast of resorations, in this case your gun had already lost its collectable value when you got it. You obviously did a very good job, and not a bubba work, preserving the M1 classic features and inscriptions. What you have now it is a nice shooter to use at the range.
            I enjoy it.
            Douglas.

Great job! Love the early style lock bar rear sight!
