Hi Everybody,
Sorry for the probably silly questions, but I'm not used to this part of the forum, neither with anything related with weapons. I have this item (magazine) in my collection which I particularly care for only as a "souvenir" from my area.
As you can see, it is very ruined from surface rust. Some Blueing is still recognizable underneath, together with other old scratches.
I'd like some help and suggestion to see if it is possible to restore it, a little bit at least...
1) is it worthy to try to softly scratch away the rust?
2) supposing I don't find "holes" in the surface after removing the rust, is it possible to make a new "blueing", or a "spot" blueing, leaving no differences with the original one?
3) If 1 & 2 are not possible / worthy, can I make something to stop the rust from keep on working? Do I have to clean it first or is there some specific "oil" to use whitout anything else before? Please note the material is still in very good condition, (typical "thin sheet" of magazines) and the rust at a first look does not seem to have gone deep in it..
Please, I'm completely unaware of tecniques of restoration in this area, so ANY little help is greatly appreciated!
Daniele
