    Armslist P-38

I saw this listed on the internet gun sale site "Armslist." Here is the sellers description - comments please ----

This Mauser P38K was manufactured in 1945 before the end of the war. The K stands for Kurtz or short and it's worth noting that this weapon was not chopped down but designed with the shorter barrel in extremely small numbers. The best I can tell is that there were roughly 3000 made in total. All of the nazi markings are visible on the weapon and on the two magazines that it comes with. You will see in the photo the SVW stamp. The code was changed from BYF to SVW in the beginning of 1945. All of the markings on the weapon and magazines combined with the SVW stamp lets us know that it was made between January and the beginning of April in 1945. Not for the casual collector. More photos are available on request.[/I]

I assumed so. I have never seen a P38 without some barrel showing.

Total BS!!! NEVER a shortened barrel! Really laughable as is would make the pistol totally inaccurate. So what in hell would the experiment be?

You'd see these in the 60s advertised as Gestapo pistols and such.
Sometimes there were examples with an inch or two of barrel with a regular front site.
