A cool piece of history....Here is a real interesting piece. This is the German's standard rifle for WW2. A K 98K mauser made in 1942 by Steyr Gun Works in Austria. The gun is marked with the secret code bnz which means made by the Steyr plant. This gun went to the Eastern Front and was captured by the Russians and maybe used against the Germans. After the war they stockpiled all captured weapons. 20 years later it is sent to North Vietnam as aid to the Communist gov't. It makes it down the Ho Chi Minh Trail into South Vietnam with a soldier who is killed by a platoon that is part of the legendary 101st Airborne Division. SFC Richard Cutler who wins the Silver Star for his actions brings this home as a trophy. The bolt in the weapon is actually from WW 1. If this could talk....
