That Garand bayonet would make a very good research or return project. The guy's full name is Floyd J. Jensema, and this is probably his wife's obituary with all the required names to contact family members: http://www.memorialsolutions.com/sit...user_id=349827

"i found several traces from hym but none to a regiment ?"

You can only rarely find out a person's unit from the web, if they happen to be mentionned somewhere, or if the unit it marked on their grave.
Get in touch with the family, chances are they will know what unit he was with, have photos, etc.

I highly doubt you will be able to conclude anything reliable from his enlistment area.

cartridges are ok and can be stored no discharge are neded . these cartridges are only for collecting i wouldnt load and shoot it in guns sure you can try it and possible that 90% works but you can damage your guns i prefer to shoot modern amo in my guns

If you are able to contact the family, and they have a copy of his discharge papers, they will tell what unit he was in, how long he served overseas, and other information.

If they do not have his discharge papers, they can obtain a copy of his service
records (I believe from the National Archives?). A quick computer search will
tell the process for them to obtain his military records.

                                Hope this helps,
                                John
