Could anyone tell me which sort of cleaning rod(12" or 10.5") I would need for this rifle?
Thanks!
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
Depends of the manufactering year of your k98.
Roughly said i think that untill 1939 you can't do wrong with a short version.
But individual changes are possible, best to check the books...
Could anyone tell me which sort of cleaning rod(12" or 10.5") I would need for this rifle?
Thanks!
Thomas
Thomas,
Just straighten out a coat hanger, and insert it into the cleaning rod hole. Mark it to the middle or so of the front sight base, and measure, and there you go.
Or if you have the rifle out of the stock, the lug where the rod threads in will be visible in the barrel channel, just measure it.
...but judging by the cupped buttplate, it's a 12.5" rod.
Thanks for the replies! I will do just that.
