P08 production quantity at Mauser

Does anyone here know app. how many P08's were produced each month at Mauser in 1941-1942? I'm trying to figure out when a P08 was made (via serial).

Hi P08,

Most records were destroyed at the end of the war so I don't think those figures are available. Most collectors are happy just to take the earliest reported serial number and the latest reported serial number for a given year, divide by 12 and compute using your serial number to come up with an approximate month. I doubt seriously that, especially late war, production was consistent from month to month.

Keep in mind that P.08 production at Mauser stopped in 1942 so the plant could retool to make P.38s. I don't think the last production date is known but maybe someone has an idea.

According to Jan Still's book 7,000 42(code) 41(date) -
126,000 byf 41 and 113,000 byf 42 were produced.
