What exactly is the function of this tool?

The primary use is as a reloading tool. It also has a screw driver at one end as you can see. The hole is placed over the "button" of the Luger magazine with the long end pointed down. You then use the "shelf" as a rest for your thumb so you can more easily push the ammuntion into the magazine.

Hi Gary,

Isn't the long end pointed up when used? The lip in the hole catches the button on the top side. At least that's how I do it.
