    Any thoughts on this flare pistol?
    Marked 'fzs' but there is no year date next to the three letter code.

          Fliegerleuchtpistole Modell L. "fzs" is Krieghoff. I have the same, maufacturers Code, LW acceptance, and no year.

            Any idea as to why some were issued with no year in them or what year they failed to date them?
            Just another case of intellectual curiosity.
            I researched and looked at a lot of different sites and none of them address this issue.

              As you can see, sometimes you may have a year and sometimes not.

              No explanation.. maybe depending on production batch or purpose (batch for plane provisioning, batch for filed provisioning ..

              Maybe a deeper survey based on the flare gun Id could help to have an idea about it.

                Thanx. I had seen that.
                There is no explanation of why there is no date on some of them but I guess that sometimes, it just wasn't done, for no particular reason.
