FXO Luger Clip Numbered Bakelite Bottom

    Hello

I picked up a luger clip marked FXO and the bottom is numbered.
Do these numbers have any meaning, I couldn't find anything to compare it to.
Is it rare to find numbered bottoms?
    Thanks for your help
    Tony

From memory, I believe this mag came from a "Kü" marked 1941 byf and the number matched the serial number of the pistol. The "+" signified that it was the spare mag.

I do not believe that Ku serial numbers (or production numbers) exceeded the low 4000 range. I know that that some recent books state differently, but the data does not support it IMO.

I agree that Ku Lugers using this type of mage bottom were serial numbered....as least some were, but the few that I have seen were more of a "panagraph" type of etch (shallow) than the one shown.

It is possible I guess from this number to have been period applied, but I am doubtful if it is related to a Ku assembly.

There is a study about this type of magazine on Jan Stills Luger Forum.

This magazine, number 6407, was just sold on Stills forum as a "Kü" mag.

Interesting mag with this style numbering, but one can be confident that it is NOT for a Ku Luger. Number is much too high and number is not applied in the manner used on the Ku baklite mag bottoms
