    LW Browning Holster Opinions Please

    Dear All,

I have this holster for sale on the e-stand, and a potential buyer would like to get a confirmation that everything is fine with it.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best,
    Al

    Markings:

jhg for Genschow & Co AG Abt. Lederwaren fabriken Werk Alstadt-Hachenburg
    43 for the year 1943
and another marking that looks like BA (BeschaffungsAmt?), and something I can't make out, in a circle.

Good holster. I have a similar one. These mint ones came from Russia/Ukraine years ago.
The BAL marking is the depot marking from the Luftwaffe logistics dept.

        Thanks Kris!
You are correct, there were soft shell P38 holsters (both smooth and pebbled), small pistol holsters (Sauer and PP/ PPk?), and US M1911 holsters, Thompson web mag pouches and web pistol belts...

It's an original holster. What is called a"Russian Capture" by collectors. These are in-issued holsters captured by the Russians.

I remember when these came in . . . supposedly from underground storage in the Ukraine, along with P.38 holsters in similar condition.

Does anyone have experience as to what happens if you fold the flap? I've heard that, with the leather flap having been stored flat and "open" for 70+ years, the finished (exterior) surface of the flap will crack/craze if you fold it over to put it in the "closed" position.

Super nice looking unissued holsters . . . . really a time capsule left over from WWII.

              Thank you, gentlemen!

Nothing happened to my P38 holsters, and the other holsters. This one is made of thicker leather though, so I don't know what, if anything, would happen over a long period of time. Just folding it over doesn't do anything though but it goes back into the open position.

                  Kris,

Where did you get that information from? Since these are in-issued holsters, why would they have a marking from a Luftwaffe depot?
