    P08 / P38 hoslter....OK or NOK?

Hello, I received this Holster recently. Very flappy P38 style softshell Holster made of pigskin? Have not seen one like this before. Inside is the small compartment for the P08 tool......does this make any sense? What is this, a postwar fake or OK? After Long looking I discovered some oval marking at the backside, but cannot read it.
What do you think of this one?

Post WWII German Police. Probably DDR.

The stamp has the beginning of the name Bautzen in the center. Holsters were made for DDR pistols there. Here is one with description but no image.

            I concur. Post war.

I believe the marking is by Stolla's, made in Wein, Austria? This was a maker of holsters during the war actually, but that marking only appears on their post war holsters.

I can not, but I can tell you that there was an identical version of this holster made (same leather, same maker, same style and features, and for the DDR) that had 08 style mag bottom cut out in the mag pouch and also a small leather flap sewn to cove the pistol butt under the flap...and the tool pouch as this one.

I was told 40 years ago that these holsters were DDR for both the P08 and P38...could fit either so fit neither perfectly....but good enough.

This one has obviously held a P38, but it could be possible the mag pouch was arsenal modified to be cut down below the "cut out" and the butt cover removed as well (that looks very possible) or this one could be a variation.

Phild is correct. Now that I look at it a second time, you can see where the extra piece has been removed that covered the butt of the pistol, but some of the stitching is still there.
This could have been one of those DDR dual purpose holsters they made.

I can only agree with the others.

Thank you gentlemen, that was very quick and good help!

Still a funny combination to me, P38 and P08 combined in one Holster ;-)

In the interest of being precise, I am not now 100% sure that the other examples of this type of holster that I have seen (been maybe 25 years since a last looked at one of these) did in fact have the cut outs for the 08 mag bottom in the pouch........I am now thinking that none that I have seen actually had that, but the pouch was cut a bit short (like this one) so either mag would fit and still be easy to grab........everything else that I wrote stays the same.
