Best light machine gun of WWII?

I think the best light machine gun of WWII is the German MG 34. Even though the MG 42 fires faster and tolerances are greater. The MG 34 is made from milled parts, is less prone to over heating due to it's lower rate of fire. I just really like that old world German engineering and craftsmanship.

I am going to have to say MG42. It Had a quick change barrel, easily manufactured, pscycological effect on its foes, became the basis for the m-60 and future lmgs and in the NATO form (7.62mm NATO with slower rate of fire) and is still in use as the MG3.

You should survey/poll this. I would be interested in others opinions.

I qualified with the MG3 on a Germany military base in the 1990's. I received my German marksmanship award also known as a Schutzensneuer. This was the same marksmanship award German soldiers wore on their uniforms in WWII. I was allowed to wear this award on my U.S military Class A uniform. The MG3 shot great but I am a MG 34 fan.

At one time I owned all three. Yes the MG34 is a beautiful piece of machinery, but in combat it is prone to jamming, and can be fragile in some instances so give me a MG42, or nowadays the MG3, which IMO is the best GPMG in the world bar none.

ww2? the MG 42 with it's quick change barrel would be my pick. Postwar? the Belgian MAG which we use here as the M240 GPMG. Will run non stop.
