    My dad had a box of these and gave me a pack what can you guys tell me about them

    These look like the 8X56 German manufacture ammo for the M95 rifle.

    Not to be confused with the standard German round 8X57.

      On the bullet by the primer they have 1938, the german eagle and swaz, and the roman numeral 8

        This is as stated 8X56 R for the updated mannlicher M95 rifles carbies , stutzens etc etc. The pointed boat tailed bullet loading with increased bullet diameter replaced the former 8x50 R in use with the M95 rifle in hungarian/austrian forces post WW1.
        This ammunition is quite common and rellatively cheap still. It is also AUSTRIAN produced AFTER germany's annexation of austria.Hence the swastika laden ammo.
