    Beretta M1934

I have come across this M1934 in 9mm Cortco:

Looks like around 85% original finish and some North African dust to boot.

Waiting on more pics, especially left side which would have more details and a date, but according to Beretta web it was manufactured between 1934 and 1942 (http://www.berettaweb.com/armi/Beret...20&%201935.htm)

    Mod. 1934 cal. 9C / .380ACP

Start - End - Serial numbers
    1934 - 1942 - from about 500073 to 999996

Possibly manufactured in 1937 just after the Italian conquest of Abyssinia in 1936.

    Any comments welcome!

I can't see any proofs on the tang, and the seller refers to "M1937", which didn't really exist as such. There was a model 1937, it was a commercial version of the M1934 government issue model. I believe the caliber was the same (9mm Cortco), but the weight of the gun reduced by 600 grams to get around the Italian laws selling guns able to fire military rounds. As such it wouldn't have the government acceptance proofs on the tang.

I believe the model 1937 is very rare, and it would have “mo 1937” on the slide. We will see when I get more pics. I don't know the format/numbering of mo 1937 guns...anyone?

Serial 626.000 was produced on 1937.

Mod. 1937 was the commercial version of the Mod. 1934 and has nothing on common with the "Modello alleggerito" or ligthened model that was produced between 1937 and 1940 of which you speak.

The caliber is "9 corto"(not cortco) or 9 short or .380ACP.

As I suspected, looks like the mo 1937 (overstamped 1934), commercial version of the M1934. How rare?

Less common than the military Mod.1934, but not very rare.

You must know that the commercial version of the 1934 was intended for fascist party members, custodians, officers private purchase,....

@kanister, no I wasn't aware of that, new to Beretta's, but it slightly increases the appeal, but I would rather have a better service issue piece.

I have an air force stamped one that my grandfather brought back. He used to shoot garden snakes with it in the 1950s.

                  It is in 7.65 or .32, so it's a Mod.1935, not a Mod. 1934.

Nice little thing. I have one with a serial 638710. They arent so far from eachother; however mine has been reblued and redone. It was used in the 90s war.
