    MG34 Lafette Tripod

    Hello
I am currently in the process of restoring an MG34 Laffete...I cannot get the center cradle to slide out of the outer one. It will move to the rear around 3" and stop...Any tricks to removing this section as I did not want to spread the outer frame.
    Thank You

    Actuator Rod

Anyone have a photo of the forward trigger assembly in the outer cradle..Is there supposed to be a plunger on the end of the actuator rod for the forward trigger?
    Thank You

I disassembled one of mine many years ago...but I can'r remember what I did. I don't know exactly what parts you mean if I don't see them. I used a bit of patience and a lot of observation so I could reassemble later on.

I believe there are a couple of threads in which some members explain how they restored their tripods.

Thank you for the reply...I did get the center section out by slightly spreading the outer sides per a Yugo manual I found online...I will upgrade my membership again so that I may post a photo..Eric

Im pretty sure the only way to get it out is to spread the outer housing. That is what I did as well. Have fun

The internal frame does not have roller guides or paths that extend the entire length of the frame which is causing it to hang up on the rollers as the rollers hit the end of the guides. There are 4 visible bolts that drop down through the top outer frame which secure internal rollers. By taking the rear cover off of the top external frame, you can spread the external frame open and slide the internal frame out. You can damage the external frame up front (stretch or crack the metal) though by spreading the rear too much. If you remove the bolts securing the rollers, it will come out much easier and you will probably want to remove them anyway to clean. Getting it back together will take a lot longer than taking it apart. With some common sense though, all will go back together and you won't need instructions.

            Good luck!
