I found this holster in a garage and was wondering what type of gun was kept in it. I also was wondering how it can be softened, it is somewhat stiff.

This would destroy that holster. Do absolutely nothing to it at this point except store it properly. Yeah, I would say less is better....Any product added cannot be reversed, and over use might erase what's left of the proof...This and it might harm the thread.....Just store properly without a firearm in it.....BodesComment

Very interesting holster. It appears that it is a rework holster. Looks like it was originally for a French label, that has been reworked for a Browning HP. Can you get a clearer photo of the proof mark on it? Any other markings? Any wear markings inside?
As for treatment, I believe Connolly's is the most recommended.
