    Does this P38 look re-blued?

I am looking at this zero series 1st patten ( I think) P38. I don't know if this has been re-blued or not. Can you tell from this photo?

Another view. I just don't know if this early gun should look like this.

Last view, should I see the vertical streaks under the bluing?

So if it's a first pattern zero series under 1000 serial, is it worth an investment? Say under $1000.00 ?
Even with re- bluing? I am not sure the entire gun has been.

Shoot the pictures in natural light.

Last photo, that's all I have. I wish it were more clear.

definitely a re-blue...I am not sure I would invest 1K for this,,,,

                    P 38 reblue

A note to remember - all high polish P -38s have the military acceptance proofs (waffenampts) applied on top of the blued finish....should have raised metal around the proofs.

                      P 38 reblue

To clarify - that would be the proofs on the right side of the slide are on top of the finish

From the first picture I would also agree reblued slide for sure. You can see the proof below the slide looks OK but the ones on the slde definitely look buffed out. I would add that pictures can be deceiving and I would pass (based on the photos).

Pictures out of focus, but good enough to see that slide has been buffed really hard and reblued.

                            For certain.

1940 P38s were smooth finished but the finish will be flat, not the buffed uneven finish.

AC40 and AC 43 for comparison.
