Yes, my mistake was in reading too hastily and thinking the question was referring to having the two different subcontractor codes on the same part. Of course that would not happen, but having parts with different subcontractors codes on the same gun is completely possible.

mp40 numbers on parts
Greeting, I was wondering if maybe you could help me out with a question I have been trying to get answered with no luck.
I have an MP40 with matching serial numbers. The number is 3753
But on the folding stock and on the rear sight it has the number 753 which is almost the same as the serial number except for one number. The reason I am asking is because I saw the same thing on an MP40 on this site at,
http://www.deactivated-guns.co.uk/de...prod_2798.html
This gun has a serial # of 7711 but on the folding stock and rear sight it has only 711. Its missing the first number of the serial number just like mine. Was it the custom to omit the first number of the serial number on these parts?
One last question, there is a small hole, not actually a hole but like where someone might have drilled and stopped. I see it on the gun on the website and mine has it also. What is that? My gun is not a deactivated gun but it has the same thing.
Thank you for your help.
