    A generic question--White or Not??

Just to lighten the forum up a little, I've got a question that deserves the input of all gathered here.
    • What is your opinion of using some manner of white highlighting to accent proofs and numbers making them easier to read??
    • If you use this material, what, in your opinion is the best, how do you use it, and why?
    • Do you use it on every piece?
    • If you don't like this type of aid, why?
    • If used, do you think it detracts from the value,
As for myself, I often use a china marker, and just bought a couple of the "laquer" sticks to experiment with. --- The old eye-balls just ain't got the sharpness they usta'. The white stuff makes the fainter marks much easier to read. It often adds to the interest of the piece. I am thinking here particularly of my P 38's, whose stamps are often faint.

Then again, I've got a couple of really nice pieces that I wouldn't touch.

Anxious to have the input of my peers----

Several collectors I know use White-Out or liquid paper. They just brush it on and quickly wipe away the excess with a soft rag and gun oil. If you want it out of the proof or marking, just use a nylon brush and some solvent.

I have no idea if it is harmful to the gun or not. Just passing along what I have seen and heard.

I use plain old white chalkboard chalk. It brushes out with a soft toothbrush, and is bright and easy to apply.
