    Walther PPK question

A friend of mine has one, he reckons it was a ww2 issue with bakelite handles , looks the part but he has been told any war issue guns had the third reich eagle stamped on them ?? His doesnt, so was wondering if this indicates that its post war ??
    Many thanks ..

If you can get some picts, it would help greatly. It could have a crown N proof marks which would be pre 1940. BILL

It appears to be a legit RZM marked PPK. The grips are correct for a standard RZM marked piece. Only high ranking party leaders got the ones with the eagles and those are extremely rare. My reference (Whittington Vol 1) does not show that serial number as within range; however exact production figures are unknown due to loss of the records to the Red Army. The wear to the slide looks to have resulted from long-term storage in a leather holster which tends to eat away the finish and markings. RZM marked examples are always quite desirable, none-the-less!

It is a Nazi Era Walther PPK RZM. Which is a very desirable NSDAP pistol. BILL

This pistol is one of the first RZMs and was made four years before the introduction of the PL eagle grips. And like the RZM versions, those PL PPKs were available to any Political Leader who had the cash and the permit to order one from their dealer or the Walther factory.

bluening around the inscription is repaired, I would be very cautious in RZM
