Good point. I thought the flap securing strap was incorrect as well. What type of pistol?

Not a lot of detail, but the holster looks like it's for the CZ 27.

My first thought after seeing the photo was that the Soldat picked up a pistol from a Soviet officer and put it on his belt for safe keeping. The thought, which is now likely, of him carrying 2 German issue pistols never crossed my mind.

my thought as well. femaru with the green "tropical" holster. The soldat also has a g33/40

I agree Carles, but the rifle is a G33/40, which may explain why that looks to be the case!

Tricks of the photography trade! Select large build soldier, stand on slight high spot, set photo with excellent depth of field.

Not saying that it was intentional but the end effect is the same. Plus of course if you look at the Russian to the immediate left, I suspect he is Mongolian or some such and would be of slighter build anyway.

If you notice the guy behind the German, he is more in scale with the T34 but I suspect he is also of slight build. ( yes their are three Russians but one is not quite so obvious)

Yes, the rifle is indeed a G33/40. The pistol holster is tough to tell. IMO, it doesn't look like a P27. Possibly could be a Femaru? The P38 holster looks great though!
