The barrel part of the front sight appears to be unfinished and the machining doesn't look like the texture on the sights that I have seen. The texture on the sights I have seen is a kind of knurling. Also, the ends of the blade dovetails are not contoured in the manner hat I have seen. it could be a repro or a sight used on a different firearm. I have a diopter fromt sight, almost identical to the FG rear sight, that was assembled to an MP43. It was different enough to suggest that these sights were used on other military or non-military guns. The pictured front sight could also be from a different weapon, or possibly different front sights evolved as the FG evolved through the early iterations. However, it looks unfinished.
The cocking handle looks correct and appears to be Kriegoff marked.
Same for the front hand guard, also maker marked.
As an owner of a 2nd model FG, I have had occasion to become acquainted with other FG owners and handle a number of 1st and 2nd model guns over a number of years. You can google up 1st model FG42 and look through the pictures and you will find a few close ups of front sights that might shed some light on what you have.
They are rar e parts indeed!

I think that the wooden part is a well made repro coming from a famous Fg42 repro parts maker....

Looks like a Weimar Waffenamt on the wooden piece, which would be to early to be
historically correct as this would only have been made starting from 1942...

              >Looks like a Weimar Waffenamt on the wooden piece, which would be to early to behistorically correct as this would only have been made starting from 1942.<

The Kreighoff production type E Guns, the first of the run of "1st Model" FGs were stamped with the Luftamt eagle as were later models. The FGs were manufactured outside of the standard production oversight of the Abnahme, so the customary WaA stamps were never applied. The E series of guns began production in late '43 and very few were made, something like 2000 altogether according to the Dugleby/Stevens book on the guns. So the Luftamt stamp is appropriate. Without further information from seeing examples of E series guns to determine specifically where the stamps were applied, it might be questionable still if the part is genuine.
There are repro G model parts, the production 2nd model FG, which I have seen and which are extremely well crafted and look extremely good. Making repro FG parts is arduous and complicated to the extreme with virtually no market, and the example 1st model hand guard shown is well worn, correctly fabricated and to my eye looks vintage. It may not be but, I have not handled any repro 1st model parts, and without having the opportunity to handle the example pictured and see it first hand, there seems a slim chance that it is a repro. There are some incredible repro parts out there now, especially of vintage German military firearms! However, I own many vintage MGs and handle many in the course of my business, as well as deal in vintage parts and fabricate some MG parts, so my experience, although hindered by only seeing a couple of pictures, leads me to believe the guard is genuine production.
Who makes or has made full size repro E series or 1st model FG parts aside from Leon Crotett? I'd like to know. FWIW

That handguard certainly show evidence of having been on a weapon.

On the "Weimar Waffenamt" comment, I would suggest that if you are only accustomed to looking at Waffenamt acceptance stamps (and not Luftwaffeamt stamps), the LwA stamps will likely appear odd to you. The LwA stamps utilize various styles of eagles, all of which are markedly different from the eagles used on WaA stamps.

Here are photos of the LwA stamps on a wooden grip for the MG15. Also, if you look at the subsequent photos that show LwA stamps in the metal, those stamps are different from what is in the wood.

On the FG42 hand guard at issue, the LwA stamps visible look to be the same size and style as you would see on the right side of the receiver of a Krieghoff manufactured P.08 pistol (as well as is seen on many other Krieghoff products made for the LW).

Definitely not a Weimar proof. This is a correct Luftamt proof mark as used at Krieghoff and other Luftwaffe-only contractors for the entire duration of the war.

Here are pics of luftamt proofs on an early Commercial Logo blued MG17 made by Norddreutsche Norddeutsche Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Berlin in July, 1940.

There are two groups that I know that make some parts and may make production E series guns. I also think that they may be working a bit together. One is Chuck Kramer at Gunlabs.net. I think he makes a few parts for SMG. and SMG is the other group looking at making a E series.
