    P38 grips - white

    Hi all,

I would like to show you this grips for P38. They were found in Gablonz and according to the code they were manufactured by our local producer Julius Posselt.
What is interesting is the color. Not the known brown or black but white! White grips were used on presentation pieces Of P38 for high persons of 3rd Reich. One know example of such presentation piece was given to Konrad Henlein. Gauleiter of Sudetenland.
    What do you think?
    Any opinions welcome.

    Best regards
    Pavel

Just to add more details that I found – See bellow pictures of the pistol that was given to Gauleiter Konrad Henlein in Spring 1944 as a present during his visit in the Spreewerk Grottau Fabrik in Sudetenland. The pistol was nickel plated and has almost no marks. The grips were also made by the Julius Posselt from Gablonz.

Could the grips that I posted be some leftovers from the production of such pistol? As I know the mould for grips always contained 12 pcs – 6 pcs of left grips and 6 pcs of right grips. The grips that I posted have Nr.6 mould marks and Nr.2 mould marks on the other one.

Are any other examples of P38 with white grips known?

      Any other opinions?

      Best regards
      Pavel

        Pavel,

Given the facts and circumstances that you have stated, my first reaction to your post was that white grips you picture are likely to be leftovers from the same batch as the ones produced for the Henlein pistol.

Have you contacted the owner of the Henlein pistol? Perhaps he can provide photos of the interior of the Henlein pistol's grips, for comparison with your grips.

            Hi,

the Henlein pistol is in USA in private collection. And yes it has the identical grips that I posted. The grips were made by company Julius Posselt in Gablonz. You can recognize Posselts grips with the 1W marking on the reverse. The Posselts grips are also easily to identify from the front. The amount of interrupted lines around the screw is always 5. All other grips manufacturers have the design with 6 interrupted lines.

            Best regards
