Is this genuine German MG42 stock???

    Hello everyone,
I would like to ask you for help, are this wooden stock and the buffer genuine German or are they postwar od Yugo? I´ve bought it as MG42, but I can´t see any markings on the metal parts. The pictured back of the MG shall be 1945 Gustloff...
    Thank you in advance,
    Frantisek

    Hello.

my first impression is that the form and the wood looks good but make pics from all!!! sites from the buttstock and the buffer.
Original parts dont must have markings to be original!!!

Agree with Nordland, I like the buttstock!

It would also be nice to see some more pictures of the MG42 if possible?

The stock is original. The buffer is Yugo.

                Yes, original buttstock.

@MG34gunner - Please tell us why do you think that this buffer is a yugo?

Buffer housings can have waffens or maker code stamped on the front, wide flange or no stamps at all. It seems that if there is a stamp, one or the other is applied, and rarely both. Have seen buffer housing with faked serial numbers on them. A code that I recall on a housing is 'bhy' ', if I recall correctly.
WWII Bakelite stocks usually have a waffen on the inside, stamped into the bottom of the cup iron. Wooden stocks may or may not have a waffen stamped in the same place as well as on the left cheek of the stock with a serial number.
Stock is clearly vintage WWII, but buffer could be vintage or M53 Yugo.
If you want vintage WWII parts you can probably find a housing that has the correct stamps and replace yours. FWIW

At first sight the rim on the corpus is always a good clue and a nice difference between original and yugo.
my opinion is that this buffer is an original part and not a yugo.

I agree, both buffer and Stock are good ones!
