Looks like a nice honest 1938 Luger. Hopefully all the inside parts match. Probably the lost of finish is from sitting in a holster for a long time.

Yep! Everything matches right down to the firing pin. The grip on the left side is darker than the grip on the right side which leads me to believe the man was left handed
