It's y understanding that is an SS Depot rifle wondering if they had filed the numbers.

My understanding is that such markings are usually on later bnz rifles

From what I'm reading a majority was BNZ but others were used as well because SS depots were building some from various parts. I don't have a doubt it's original but my brother doesn't seem to think its original. This was purchased direct from the importer when I took the rifle out of the stock dryed cosmoline was giving me a hard time and it was very well soaked in grease. Had a gunsmith tell me the stamp looks old the edges weren't sharp.

The SSZZA4 & serial number on the barrel look okay for an SS rifle but there is no guarantee that the barrel was originally installed into this receiver.

No waffenampts on the receiver and a scrubbed serial number.
