I came to the forum seeking any available info you guys may have regarding an SA marked Walther PP that my long-time girlfriend has inherited from her father. I've researched these pistols several times, but have become increasingly interested in the particular subsidiary SA group that this one is engraved with. Through my research, I have been unable to find any other surviving PP that is designated from the same SA group. I was hoping you all may be able to provide us with some more info or confirm this groups particular rarity and perhaps gives us an indication on value.
The pistol and holster are both marked SA and the grip strap designates he pistol as "SA der NSDAP gruppe hochland." Both the slide and barrel feature the crown over N proof and the serial number is 112165P which I believe dates the pistol somewhere in the mid 30s. She also has the original certificate of authenticity that details the release of the pistol as a war prize to her grandfather during his service in WWII. It is signed of and dated by his unit commander.
Overall condition of the piece is fair, as noted in the pictures both the holster and pistol present considerable wear. The leather latch on the holster has torn away from the body of the holster, but is still present. The pistol's finish shows obvious signs of holster wear, but not too many scratches or other obvious defects. A second magazine is also included with the set.
