    Strange Holster

Picked this holster up recently because it had a nice Veterans League stick pin,It is dated 1911 and although similar to a Luger holster there is no side pocket for an extra mag If not for a Luger could this piece have been made for a different pistol? Thanks,Geoff

Looks like a rework holster. notice the toe has been re-sewn, and the stud has been replaced with a rivet on the strap. Is there any stitching on the side of the holster where a cleaning rod would be?

Thank you Matt,There is no stitching for a cleaning rod but there is some rectangular stitching holes that may indicate there was an extra mag pouch at some point

          Geoff,

Yup, there's your answer. They removed the magazine pouch for some reason?

          Very interesting holster though.

Thank you Matt, Is it likely that this holster was refurbished and reissued to rear echelon troops such as customs or other more civil groups that were non combat related organizations during the Third Reich era? From what I understand (I am not really a"Gun Guy" the WWI holsters were generally brown so I would speculate this holster began its life as a standard brown Luger holster that was refurbished and reissued during WWII I would be interested in you thoughts,Regards,Geoff
