    Greetings Joe!

Went back and checked my rifle. You are indeed correct. It is a Walther Sportmodell. The serial number is 23410W. Also marked Waffenfabrik Walther Zella Matlis Thuringen. The police eagle embossed in the stock does have what appears to be the letter "a" below it. Has the original sling. Any idea of the value for one of these?
I also have a DSM (am sure about it this time) that is embossed on the stock "RFSS". The maker is Weihrauch. The serial number is 21073. It is also marked "Deutscher Sportmodell" right side of the reciever and " Cal 6/22 Long Rifle Waffenfabirk Herm. Weihrauch Zella-Mehlis Thur" on the left side of the reciever. Has the cleaning rod, sling and the muzzle cover.

    Best regards,
    Bill

Nice rifles, the muzzle covers and original slings are tough, the rfss marking is out there, but dont see many police marked.

Thanks for sharing the serial numbers Bill. The Walther Sportmodell is at the beginning of the serial range. They are wonderful rifles.

The RFSS trainer is something else. I had some of the Mauser contract for the RFSS recorded, but hadn't heard of a Weihrauch. Mine is the early Mauser contract. The RFSS is stamped in a circular cartouche on the stock, isn't it? I have found some documentation on the Mauser contract of these and hope to put together a short article for The Military Advisor.
