    Still Tinkering--

    Bill,

        Very nice late model 1944 K98 Bill ! This is a very clean looking rifle I like the bayonet displayed with it as well ...........COOL !

            late bcd

            That is a truly mint example of a late bcd clear phosphate finish- the finish is not really rare, it is just that a lot of these were refinished by well meaning GI's thinking they were bare metal. The bcd phosphate started late in 1944- from looking at your rifle, I would bet yours is one of the last rifles from 1945- super nice rifle.
