    My First K43

    Hi all,

I thought I would share my first K43. I know its not perfect but all parts match and the thing functions. It came with two mags etc. Also it has 90% blue (mag is rough) and nice milling. I think the rod is for a K98 but that is what it came with from the vet.

The original owner has put a initial "R" on separate parts of the gun and some one has etched "ARMY" on to the stock just under the receiver?

ac 44 dated body. Sling dated 44 also.

Question: the bolt carrier and receiver both have #4774 j ac 44 however it looks like the carrier, barrel and bolt assembly are blued and the trigger, receiver butt plate and front stock ring look almost like they are parkerized or without blue/bare metal/ Is this pretty common? I have seen a lot of these guns and some are matched blue and some are not?Steve

Steve, Bill is correct....Some late war K43's had a mixture of phosphated and blued parts....As for the cleaning rod, these used the standard K98k cleaning rod....The only thing that concerns me is the "R" carved in the stock....I believe this indicates postwar French use....But as long as everything is original to the piece, French use would be just part of the history....Nice find....Bodes

            Hi guys,

This K43/G43 looks like it has seen some action. There are no import marking on it other than the carved R and the crude carved "army"?

What would somthing like this cost?

              Very nice find Steve!
If you plan on taking it down to the range, I would highly recomend a shooters kit.

In the original configuration there was now allowance for the adjustment of the gas system. A shooters kit will allow you to tune the gas system to the ammo you are using and will prevent any potential damage to the existing parts.

It is well worth the investment!

              Take Care,
              Ernie

                Hi guys,

Thank you all for your comments. I have a new question, where is a good place to go to find G43 parts, i.e. site hood and better condition mags?

Steve, You can look under "Qualitybc" on eBay.....He sells G/K43 parts quite often.....He has a front sight protector right now....His prices can be a little high but he sells good stuff....Also check out this forum...It has other contacts for various parts including the "shooter's kit" mentioned.....Hope this helps...Bodes
