Picked up this 1942 first variation P.38 AC 42 pistol recently. It is all matching except for the earlier AC magazine. It has an early 1942 no letter suffix serial number 8468, and pretty nice shape for a pistol that witnessed nearly 3 1/2 years of war. Has the early extractor cut, & no frame reinforcing at the trigger. Most small parts (hammer, slide release, trigger, safety lever, dust cover, take down lever, internal magazine parts etc.)still have the eagle 359 waffenamt. The bore is good, shiny with no frosting or pits marks.

Actually was pretty lucky finding this pistol. The pawn shop was listing it as a Luger 38, and for a price that was unbelievably low at that. Photos were real grainy and could not make out any info on the slide. A call to the friendly owner confirmed the AC42 & the fact all numbers matched. I won the auction as I was the only bidder, can get lucky sometimes.Last edited by paddywonka; 05-17-2016, 09:17 AM.

Have seen holsters like this before. On that one the GI who took the holster also took the soldiers iron cross, wound badge, party pin, & skull hat device etc. and put them on the flap. He just punched holes with the dip of knife and attached them. He was my uncle and that was what he did to the PPk pistol holster he brought home from the Hürtgen Forest in Germany in 1944. I still have that iron cross, wound badge, party pin, skull, SA pin,Nazi flag & arm band he brought back.
