    Bogus P38 holster

I don't recommend it, but I know some of the members here shop on eBay.

    Just wanted to point out this bogus P38 holster someone is trying to sell as original;

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-P38-EWX...kAAOSwEK9W~0h8

    Hopefully this will save someone.

Look at the wavy surface of the leather, top and rear. Dead give-away to leather tanned in the "subcontinent".

          It's definitely a fake.

Here's all that's wrong with it.

          1. Looking at it, the leather is not correct.
          2. Thread looks modern
          3. Belt loops sewn straight up/down
          4. Stitching on belt loops is wrong
          5. Maker "EWX" made hardshell holsters from 1941-1942.
          6. WaA 159 was not assigned to this maker. This maker used "WaA195"
          7. Lift strap is not sewn correctly
          8. Looking at the back, the top row of stitches, you can see a red line drawn on the holster to mark where the stitch line is suppose to go. This is not correct.
          9. Closure strap is not correct.
          10. Hardware looks to be artificially aged.
          11. Holster overall doesn't seem to hold it's "hardshell" shape.
          12. Dispite all the wear and age to the hardware and exterior, the interior of the holster show NO wear at all! No signs of ever holding a P38 in it, or a magazine.

This is a pretty good fake, and would fool many. Someone contacted me to look at it on ebay for them. Good thing they did. I saved them from a $400 mistake!
That's why I posted it here. Hopefully it will save others.

Here's another bogus holster on eBay:

Sad news is there are already 11 bids on it. Hopefully nobody here bid on it??
Hope they can get their money back.

Just looked at that last one. Auction ended. Someone spent $176.50 on a fake holster.

Hope they can get a refund.

This is why I warn others about eBay.
