    MG42 review

    Hello people!

    I would like your opinion about a MG42. It's a Steyr from 1944: http://imgur.com/wRjQs9q
    All parts are original from ww2. But I have some doubt about his integrity.

    At first there are a 6 digits number on the bolt. It looks like a light electropen marking and it doesn't match the MG serial: http://imgur.com/XG5ksEt (I read 980???)

    The stock has a 3 digit serial that doesn't match the MG too: http://imgur.com/ULTdodn
    There are 2 WaA77 on the enhancement (the photo is bad): http://imgur.com/YC2x3A6

    The rear sight has a 2 digit number too, who doesn't match nothing: http://imgur.com/wdqLrtt

    I don't worry about that cause MG42 are designed to easily change barrel and this one is a good ww2 for sure: http://imgur.com/3nAp3k7


    What do you thing about this MG42 ? It's a good or a bad one ?

      Hello.

      This MG42 is from Steyr and was produced ca. in August 1944.
      the bolthead and the rollers are from Mercedes (ghj and WaA C10) but the number is postwar.
      the boltreceiver is from Maget (WaA 11).
      the buttstock looks original to me and i think with the original!!!! metalband!!! i mean the stock is a "hvg 44" from the producer "De Limon Fluhme and Co."the number on it (237) and the markings on the metalband (WaA 77?) are not original!

      Please more pics from this Mg42 and the parts and markings!
      Then we can say more about this nice exemplar!!

        That's what I thought too. Do you have an idea of the origin of this added serial ? Austria army ?

        In fact I don't see really well the number under the tiny eagle.
        It can be anything but I'm sure it's original.


        I will put other photos today. But I don't see other strange thing.
        It looks like a good mg42 with a barrel and bolt remplaced by a previous owner... For the stock I don't have an explanation.

            Hello.

            O.K.now we can see a little bit more.

            The WaA marking on the buttstock at the underside is not original and the markings on the metalband "WaA 77" are not original too.These are fake stamps!!!
            But i think its a original "hvg 44" stock! this can you see on the left side in the middle of the stock. Please make pics from all sites and the detail from the left side of the wooden stock!then you can see the contours of the "hvg 44" and the WaA 34 markings.

            the topcover,feed tray and gripstick are from Eickhorn (cof and WaA 519) and looks good and original.
            the grips could be stamped inside with "G" and a number .
            the markings on the pin from the gripstick are yugoslavian stamps but it could be that the pin is maybe original.

            the "WaA 77" markings on the pusher and screw from the barreldoor are also fake stamps!!!

            the "Staubschutzklappe" could be postwar german army. (Bundeswehr)
            but need more pics.

            What do you mean with the strange thing???The "L-Kimme"??? its for anti aircraft.;-)

            i mean its a good original 42 and with some other original parts you can complete it and make it better.
            but why any big idiot stamps this original 42 with fake stamps?!?!?!
            he did it so not better but worse!!!

                I do not agree with two points:
                the "WaA 77" markings on the pusher and screw from the barreldoor are also fake stamps!!!
                WaA77 are common on Steyr stuff. And I see no problem with this one. You can see that they were stamped without alter the finish, cause they were stamped before the phosphating at the factory

                I agree. I don't like this number dans the WaA without any number... sad. But I don't see any problems with the metal band ans the waffenamnt on it. That say, I can't prove it...

                We can see a rest of a factory code and a date. Really difficult to see them in hands. I will try to make photos this sunday.

                I will do more pics of the klappe too.

                So, it's an original mg42, with a no matching barrel, a bolt who got a serial number after the war and same with the cross... Too bad things to keep it in my collection

                  No. WaA77 fake postwar stamping like on wood buttstock. Finish postwar, reblued by Yugo army. Original WK2 MG 42 but like this not special or rare

                    Yes, "WaA 77" stands for Steyr but not at the MG42. you can see these markings on a K98!!!
                    Please show me only one original MG42 part what have the "WaA 77" marking.i have never seen it.
                    and two markings on the screw and two of the pusher of the barrel door.Sorry this is not original!!!and for the metalband is it the same.Not original markings!!!

                    Some Idiots mean they make it better and can drive up the price.
                    But this idiots "destroy" a nice original stock with fake stamps!!!!

                    in last time i have seen one nice original Mg42 stock with "Adler 63".
