New Mauser

An old neighbor gave this rifle to me the other day. Said he used to shoot it when he was younger. I know it is a Mauser of some sort but it has a general lack of markings. I believe the bolt has been switched out as well. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

The circle 'Z' indicates Czech made....Looks like a Vz24....Bodes

The reciever is different mashined as Vz24, more real is a polish Wz.29 or other version. Z in circle was used there too.b.r.Andy

Yeah, I think you're right....I don't believe the Czechs used the bolt takedown disk similar to that of the K98k's on their Vz24 or Vz33's....It wasn't until after the Germans started making the G24(t) or the G33/40 that we saw that feature....Bodes

I googled polish Wz.29 and it led me to another forum. Over there they opine that Polish mausers with no markings were scrubbed and sent to Spain during the Spanish Civil War for the Republican forces' use. Can anyone confirm this?
