A fairly rare early full box of SmK-H ammunition in my collection. This box is from 1938.
Patronen Spitzgeschoss mit Stahlkern gehärtet contains a tungsten carbide core in place of the usual hardened steel normally found in SmK ammunition. It achieved 18-19mm of penetration against armor plate at 100 meters. Most of this ammunition was recalled from service and recovered from the field by 1943, as the tungsten was deemed more valuable for tank gun ammunition than infantry cartridges.
Would be interested in seeing if anyone has a later box with an intact label or a different variation of label, such as one with Fur MG markings.
